About
Chef Erika Rapp’s education at the Culinary Institute of America taught her that food can provide unlimited opportunities; on a plate and in life. The 2001 graduate not only learned the classic techniques of food preparation but was also inspired by some of the most acclaimed master chefs of our time. Her experience gained from travel and exposer to a kaleidoscope of cuisines has influenced her to create wonderfully eclectic and artfully crafted modern American dishes.
The Northwest Ohio native has taken that world class education and parlayed it into an impressive culinary career, developing her skills in some of the finest kitchens from New York to Texas to Chicago. In 2005 Chef Rapp brought that tapestry of experience back home and became executive chef of the celebrated Diva restaurant in downtown Toledo. After Diva’s untimely closing, she moved on to become the lead as the Director of Culinary and Special Events and Chef and at the renowned Toledo Museum of Art.
Now Chef Rapp presents the best of her worldly food knowledge and culinary art prowess as co-owner and executive chef of Registry Bistro, inside the historic Secor Building in Downtown Toledo.
“I am continually inspired by the change of seasons in northwest Ohio and the regional cuisines of America. I try to reflect both in the way I cook.”
Opening in spring 2012, Registry Bistro will provide Toledoans the opportunity to experience Chef Rapp’s passion for food through a seasonally changing menu comprised of only the freshest, finest ingredients selected from local purveyors and presented by what she describes as casual-elegant dining.
CASUAL | ELEGANT | REGISTRY BISTRO
Registry Bistro guests are taken in by the soothing color pallet of warm woods and stone colored walls. The entire space glows of natural light from a series of French doors which are set into the original foot print of the historic building. With Juliet balconies, the doors open to the dining room to overlook Superior St. and the hustle and bustle of the entertainment district. Like our menu, the dining room ambiance is a mixture of modern and classic, with a touch of urban chic. The polished concrete floor and soaring raw pillars are balanced by the comfort of walnut plank tables and traditional seating.
The 128 seat contemporary bistro resonates with timeless sophistication while focusing on modern eclectic cuisine. (The dining room proper accommodates 80 seats).
The stylish bar accommodates guests who prefer cocktail and light dining in a social atmosphere. Our libations menu changes seasonally featuring classic American bar cocktails with a modern seasonal perspective. The wine list is modest in size but impressive in content. By hand selecting boutique wines from both new and old world regions, we feature unique seasonal selections that perfectly compliment our menu. Along with cocktails and wine, we will offer a rotating selection of American craft beers as well as a mocktail menu focusing on non-alcohol based drinks.
Registry is unique to the Toledo area. We serve the cuisine of our time that highlights our region’s bounty. We focus on small plates at reasonable prices which are comfortable for the entire table to share and entrees which maintain a midrange price point. Although traditional fine dining has fallen out of favor over the last decade, diners want a thoughtfully prepared, high quality dining experience minus the formality of an earlier era.
Registry exceeds those expectations.
